Welcome... |

This
website has been developed by
Citizens for a Positive Oregon City.
We are a group of concerned Oregon City residents who
care deeply about the future of our city, especially
public safety, fire protection, police protection, and
emergency medical services. On May 17, Oregon City
voters will decide whether or not to approve annexation
into Clackamas County Fire District #1 (CCFD#1). This is
an important issue for our community, so we have created
this website to help answer your questions. |
|
There are many positive
reasons to vote YES for annexation. Explore this
website to see just how critical this issue is to our
citizens. Discover the benefits of annexation. See the
names of the citizens and organizations that support it. |
|
Failure of this annexation
would have a very negative impact on the citizens of
Oregon City and on the surrounding neighborhoods that
depend on Clackamas Fire District #1 for emergency
medical services, fire protection and prevention, and
much more! |
|
Please
vote
YES
on May 17, 2005! |
 |
|
Simply put…
If annexation is approved by the voters: |
-
Clackamas Fire District #1 would open and staff the
empty South End Fire Station!
-
Adding more firefighters will cut 2 minutes off
critical travel time. Since 80% of calls are medical
emergencies, those minutes are vital to saving
lives.
-
We would finally have stable funding for fire and
EMS for many years.
-
We would get a vote on Clackamas Fire District#1
board and district decisions.
-
This funding strategy allows us rebuild the police
department so that our officers can respond minutes
faster and keep our community safer.
-
Having a safe and livable city will protect our
property values.
-
The city’s general fund would have an additional
$2.8 million to rebuild the police department,
library, parks and neighborhood planning.
-
City residents will receive higher levels of fire,
police and emergency medical services.

Minutes Count!
|
|
We need the South End
Station! In a medical emergency, 2 minutes can mean the
difference between life and death. Current average fire
and emergency medical response travel time in the south
Oregon City is 6.16 minutes. Minutes count. Travel time
will be under 4 minutes if South End Station is
staffed. |
|
Our police department is
dangerously understaffed today and cannot respond to
calls for help in standard times. Minutes count! It is
NOT acceptable to wait 17 minutes (average response) for
an officer to arrive during an assault, 15 minutes on a
hit and run injury, or 7.5 minutes on a kidnapping when
3 minutes is the norm. We need more police officers!
|
|
Milwaukie, with a
population less than Oregon City, can put 15
firefighters on the scene in 4 minutes travel time or
less. Oregon City can only put 6 firefighters on the
scene in a 6 minute average travel time. Additional
engines, if needed, must come from faraway places such
as Beavercreek and beyond. Minutes count! We need more
firefighters (click to see more information about
Clackamas Fire District #1). |
|
When
minutes count, the safety and livability of our city is
worth pennies a day! |
|
Fire
District Annexation is a "Win-Win" Solution
for Oregon City! |
